They’re Making A Final Fantasy VII Themed Monopoly Game

ffvii monopoly

I saw this and thought it was a joke, but nope. Apparently this is a real thing that people will be able to buy with real money.

That’s…weird. Also, doesn’t it kind of miss the point of Final Fantasy VII? You know, considering that a pretty big number of the bad guys work for a giant power company that owns basically everything, is fucking up the planet, and is one of the root causes behind everything bad that happens in the game.

It’s going to be released sometime next year, it looks like. You can pre-order it at Merchoid, if you want to drop $50 for a board game.

Shut Up And Take My Money: Persona 5 Gets US Release Date

So, not only is Final Fantasy XII getting a re-release next year, but now we finally know when Persona 5 is coming to the US? It’s like RPG fan Christmas.

The game will be hitting US stores on (for the PlayStation 3 and 4) on February 2, 2014. This is, of course, Valentine’s Day, in case you care about that sort of thing. There is, of course, a special edition of the game that will be released as well, which includes things like the game’s soundtrack, a plushie of one of the characters, and even a book bag for those who want to shell out the extra money.

I’m actually pretty excited about this. While I didn’t really get much of a chance to play the first two games of the series, Persona 3 and 4 are two of my favorite games. And seeing as how this entry was announced in 2011, it’s about damn time.

Now if only we could get an actual release date for Kingdom Hearts III, that would be great.

Shut Up And Take My Money: Final Fantasy XII Getting HD Release

Fun fact: I love Final Fantasy. It is probably my 2nd favorite game series, after Silent Hill. And while Final Fantasy XII isn’t my favorite game in the series (hello Final Fantasy X), it’s still pretty high on the list.

So imagine my utter joy at learning that it’s getting a PlayStation 4 HD re-release.

Titled Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, it’s set to include improvements to the visuals, as well as the score. It’s also going to include certain elements that were in the game’s International version that was not released in the US, mainly a tweaked leveling system that allows you to choose certain classes for the characters (in the original, all the characters could learn every skill, causing the party to feel somewhat homogenized after a while).

We don’t have an exact release date yet, besides being sometime next year. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this, though, and will definitely be buying it whenever it’s released.

The Trailer Park: Rogue One-A Star Wars Story

The trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released on Thursday and it looks fucking amazing.

Rogue One, directed by Gareth Edwards, is a prequel of sorts to A New Hope. Taking place shortly before the first Star Wars, it follows a wanted criminal named Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) who is recruited by the Rebellion for a very important mission: stealing the plans for the Death Star. The film also stars Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelson, and Alan Tudyk, and will be opening on December 16.

Admittedly while I’m more into Star Trek than Star Wars, I do still enjoy the latter. I really liked the original trilogy, thought the prequel trilogy was kind of meh, and absolutely adored The Force Awakens. So, I’m actually pretty pumped for this movie.

Plus there’s the fact that certain fanboys are getting their undies in a bunch because the film features a female protagonist. That right there pretty much guarantees that I’m going to see the movie.

So, yes. Really looking forward to this one.

Check Out This Awesome Live Action Version of P.T.

Were you as disappointed by the cancellation of Silent Hills as I was? Konami scrapping the Guillermo Del Toro/Hideo Kojima headed addition to its Silent Hill series made a lot of people angry. Let’s face it: there hasn’t been a good Silent Hill game in years, and Konami seems to be more interested in pachinko machines these days.

Well, a group of filmmakers on YouTube called Oddest of the Odd, have basically taken P.T. (the “playable teaser” for the game) and made a live action adaptation.

It’s Official! Idris Elba’s In The Dark Tower

Remember how last November I wrote a post about how Idris Elba was being proposed to play the lead in an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower?

Yeah, it looks like it’s going to happen.

Idris Elba is going to play Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger of a land called Gilead which had fallen quite some time before the beginning of the story. Matthew McConaughey has also been cast as Roland’s nemesis, the man in black.

I am so fucking excited about this. The Dark Tower is probably my second favorite book series (after Terry Pratchett’s Discworld). I have a tattoo that’s inspired by these books. And I like Idris Elba as an actor and, as I’ve said before, I think that he would be a good fit for the role.

I am, however, a little disappointed that it’s going to be starting in the middle of the story, rather than at the beginning. But still, this is exciting news for a production that has been a long time in the making.

Of course, Roland being played by a black actor may piss some people off, because people of color in any role seems to elicit that kind of reaction among, well, racists. But I’m behind anything that pisses off racists, so I have no problem with that.

Did I mention I’m excited about this?

Idris Elba May Be Playing Lead in Dark Tower Movie

Apparently British actor Idris Elba is the frontrunner to play Roland Deschain, the lead character from Stephen King’s The Dark Tower novels, in the upcoming film adaptation.

First off, I had actually completely forgotten that there was an adaptation of the books coming, which, shame on me as they are some of my favorite novels in existence. Second, I think Idris Elba is a fine choice. He is a very good actor, and about the only reason the incessant Rainbow SIx: Seige ads on YouTube have yet to break my will. Seriously, the man could read from a phone book and I wouldn’t get bored.

OF course, nothing is set in stone at this point, and it could very well not happen. Either way, though, I will still be looking forward to the movie and am excited to see what they do with it.

World of Warcraft: Legion

(Note: I am aware that this was announced several days ago. I have been trying to collect my thoughts about this so that it comes out coherently instead of me typing “OH MY GOD” over and over again.)

Most of you have likely already seen the below video:

Yup! Blizzard is putting out another WoW expansion, and so far it looks like it’s adding some fairly interesting new features. There’s going to be a new zone (The Broken Isles), class order halls, and artifact weapons (you can apparently wield THE FUCKING ASHBRINGER).

What I’m looking forward to, though, is the new hero class: demon hunter.  They are looking incredibly badass. Kind of disappointed that there are no new playable races, though. Where are my playable vrykul, Blizzard?

I will probably have more thoughts on this as new information becomes available.

There’s Something Seriously Wrong With This Poster

So, I was browsing through Tumblr (as I do) when the Black Widow poster for the upcoming film Captain America: The Winter Soldier popped up on my dash. For the few people who have yet to see it, it looks like this:

So, I was looking at it, and it looks a little off. And then it hit me: she looks broken. And I don’t mean psychologically or emotionally broken; I mean it fucking looks like someone physically broke her.

I mean, look at this clusterfuck. Her arms look like they’re ten feet long. Is Scarlett Johansson secretly a Stretch Armstrong doll? Also, where did her internal organs go? Her waist’s been photoshopped to be as wide as her jaw, for Christ’s sake!

And what is up with her pose? It looks extremely awkward, and not dynamic at all. She looks like an action figure. A poorly proportioned action figure.

I mean, is this supposed to be sexy? Because it’s really not. It’s just awkward and wrong.
